Zinc Ingots – Consistent Quality, High Purity, Industrial-Scale Supply
Zinc (Zn) is a bluish-grey metal with a melting point around 420 °C and a standard electrode potential of roughly –0.76 V (Zn/Zn²⁺). Being more electronegative than iron, zinc is essential in cathodic corrosion protection (galvanizing). Thanks to its alloyability, chemical stability and castability, zinc is a cornerstone in construction, automotive, electrical & electronics, casting, chemicals, energy and defense.
Sources & Process
Ores & Concentration: Primarily sphalerite (ZnS); also smithsonite, hemimorphite, franklinite. Concentration by flotation.
Roast–Leach–Electrowin: Roasting to ZnO, acid leaching, zinc-dust purification, then electrowinning to produce high-purity cathodes, which are cast into ingots.
Applications & Notes
Galvanizing (hot-dip & electrogalvanizing): Corrosion protection for steel structures, towers, pipes, roofing and fasteners; bath management (Al/Ni), spangle control and dross handling matter.
Alloys (Brass, Bronze, Zamak, Solders): Excellent flow in die casting (zamak), machinability in brass, consistent low melting for solders.
Casting & Tooling: Thin-walled, complex shapes with smooth surface finish for automotive and appliances.
Chemicals: ZnO for paints, rubber vulcanization, ceramics, cosmetics; ZnSO₄/ZnCl₂ for fertilizers, textiles, water treatment and adhesives.
Energy & Electronics: Zinc in alkaline, zinc–carbon and zinc–air batteries; ZnS for fluorescent applications.
Coinage & Misc.: Widely used in minting and metal finishing.
